As an editor images are footage-- you don't know what it will be, but you dig until you unearth what the film is about.

Inspired by the film La Jetée, Towards An Understanding Of Montage is a literal presentation of film editor Mark Lemmon's photographs. Reflections, people, bits of paper, photographed and presented in sequence, sometimes with audio, a story told between photography and film. This is an exhibit/lecture of art created 'between the private realm and the public sphere'.

Biography:

Mark Lemmon has over 50 credits as a post-producer, editor, or associate producer on many feature films, television series, and short films including The Delicate Art of Parking (2003 winner of Best Canadian Feature at the Montreal Film Festival),Waydowntown, Mon Amour Mon Parapluie, and The Road that Binds Us (all three of which won Leo Awards). The first feature he edited, the comedy The Suburbanators, was screened at the Sundance, Toronto, and Vancouver International Film Festivals.  Mark holds a BA in Film Studies from Queens University.
