Música Inspiração at DOXA
May 26 2007
Cineworks is proud to be partnering with DOXA to present: Música Inspiração, Saturday, May 26, 5:00pm, Pacific Cinematheque.
This program presents two distinct styles of music, two distinct cultures, two films about being moved and moving others with the love of music.
It is the world premiere of Vancouver filmmaker Jordan Paterson’s Os Tres de Portugal/The Three of Portugal (24 minutes - director in attendance with special musical guests).
Os Tres de Portugal is a fado music group comprised of luthier Jose Amaral, guitarista Manuel Redondo and singer Suzanna Rodrigues. They unite for a time, eventually mounting a successful concert in Vancouver. Having seen interest in fado fade over the years, the trio is driven chiefly by the desire to preserve this special tradition from their native Portugal – and they try to impart the spirit of fado to the new generation of children born in their new home Canada. Along the way, we learn about their lives, inspirations and disappointments as musicians and immigrants.
Preceded by: Speaking Notes: three movements with Tabea Zimmermann Director: Ruth Schocken Katz, UK, 2006, 28 minutes
