Optical Allusions

January 22 2008

Curated by cheyanne turions.

A nearly gone technology, optical printers once dominated the field of special effects in film, yielding such classic examples as 2001: A Space Odyssey and Star Wars. Today, optical printers have been embraced in experimental realms. This screening will present a number of works from local, national and international media artists whose film work has been manipulated using optical printers. With one of the few optical printers around and available to artists, Cineworks is proud to present this special event to preface to an upcoming workshop exploring introductory optical printer techniques for the experimental filmmaker.
