CINEWORKS ANNOUNCES LINEUP FOR REFUSE…REWIND…REPLAY
The playlist for the 9th Annual Refuse…Rewind…Replay has been announced! From award winning films to award winning filmmakers, Refuse…Rewind…Replay screens the best short films from BC that the Vancouver International Film Festival missed.
We have a stellar lineup of short films this year from the provocative to the hilarious. Sublime visuals and dramatic intrigue; there is something for everyone.
Refuse Rewind Replay is presented by Cineworks on Wednesday November 2nd, 7:30pm @ Pacific Cinémathèque (1131 Howe St.). Tickets are $6.00, but FREE FOR CARD-CARRYING CINEWORKS MEMBERS
A Q& A with filmmakers will follow the screening.
The Films SHANE REMEDIATED (Oliver Hockenhull, 2005, 15 min.) "Shane Remediated" is a visual and sonic reworking of the great western "Shane'.
SUPER-ANON (Stephen H.Plitt, 2005, 10 min.) A story about truth and lies. And half-truth. And lying about telling half-truths. And really fast people.
SAY YES (Neil Every, 2004, 15 min.) Sometimes a kiss IS a kiss…
LOVE/CENSORED/TRUTH (Desiree Lim, 2005, 5 min.) A video letter questioning where the lines between actual facts and censored truth fall within a twisted romantic connection.
ATTENTION PUBLIC (Emily Vey Duke & Cooper Battersby, 2005, 9 min.) "With this project, we aim to clear a psycho-spiritual space for the viewer which was not cleared before."
DARK ROOM (Stacy Fish, 2005, 16 min.) The mysterious murder of her niece forces Alice to start living for the moment.
SUPRA-NATIONAL PRAYER WHEEL (Nicola Marin, 2004, 3 min.) This digital rattle insinuates elements of buddhism in hinduist tantrism through a diasporic African-Canadian cum Shivaite re-enactment.
UNWRITTEN… (Kaare Andrews, 2005, 12 min.) "Unwritten..". focuses on a life composed of starts and devoid of finishes, inspiring us all to achieve our dreams before it is too late.
CRAZY LATE (Zach Lipovsky, 2005, 11min.) No tux, no corsage, six minutes and five blocks between a groom and the rest of his life.
WHITE(NESS) (Mark Kenneth Woods, 2005, 2 min.) A visual essay on the cultural construction of race, whiteness, power and privilege.
