UNDER MY FEET
AN EVENING OF DANCE CINEMA

Cineworks Independent Filmmakers Society and the Dance Centre are excited to present Under My Feet, a program of stunning cinematic works by filmmakers who train their lenses on dancers.

Curated by local filmmaker Steve Rosenberg, part one of Under My Feet highlights works from hot-shot directors, Daniel Conrad and Moze Mossanen, two of the countries busiest dance filmmakers, as well as a collection of stylish Bravo!FACT dance films. Conrad’s, 2001 prize-winning short Subways, choreographed by Vancouver’s Crystal Pite and filmed in the subways of Prague, is guaranteed to inspire new ideas for this film genre.

Part two of Under My Feet features the documentary gem Ballarina. Set in St. Petersburg, Russia, French director Bertrand Norman goes behind the stage curtain of the Marinsky Ballet to observe three rising ballerinas and their daily challenges. The final result is breathtaking–these budding young dancers take centre stage and prove why millions in their country worship them. Ballerina had four, sold- out screenings at last year’s Vancouver International Film Festival and placed in the top 10 for audience favourites of the festival.
