Peter Hebert
Peter Hebert is a web developer, independent filmmaker, videographer and graphic designer. He is a graduate of the Television Broadcasting program at Algonquin College in Ottawa, and has been involved with moving pictures and interactive media for almost 15 years. Peter’s first short film, Lucky - or Not?, was completed in 2005 and is available online. Peter has worked on several independent films and experimented with 16 mm, Super 8 mm and digital filmmaking. He is a supporter of open source technology and open and free media, and has made his films available on-line under a Creative Commons license which allows non-commercial redistribution and remixing. Peter has been involved in the arts community for several years, as a member of SAW Video Coop, the Independent Filmmakers Cooperative of Ottawa and volunteering with both the Ottawa and Montreal Fringe Festivals. He was a founding partner in the independent music site thesetunes.com, a leading promoter of the independent music scene in Canada from 2001-2003.
Kathleen Hepburn
Kathleen, a recent graduate from Simon Fraser’s School for Contemporary Arts, and founding member of The Suspension of Disbelief Film Society, is an emerging filmmaker and new media artist. She is currently in the works on several short projects, including one shot on Cineworks’ own Arri SR2. She is also the co-founder of the independent production company “Glass Curtain Pictures” whose mandate is to produce excellence in film while avoiding at all costs the sometimes-tyrannical nature of the film industry.

Jason Karman
Jason Karman has been directing independent films since 2003 and is an active member on the Board of Directors for Cineworks in Vancouver, BC. He graduated from Cinematography at Capilano College with honors and has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary. Jason’s inspiration comes from his experiences as an immigrant from Indonesia and being a double minority. His films have played in Philadelphia, Los Angles, Houston, Vancouver and on LogoTV, the lesbian and gay network from MTV Networks.

Leanne Makcrow

Leanne Makcrow is proud to be the new office manager here at Cineworks and looking forward to meeting and working with our members.

Ileana Pietrobruno
Pietrobruno has written, directed, edited and produced several short films and the following features: the erotic drama Girlfriend Experience (distributed by Mongrel Media), the pirate adventure Girl King (distributed by Ariztical) and the surreal Cat Swallows Parakeet and Speaks! (distributed by CFMDC). Critics describe these films as drop-dead gorgeous, surprisingly innovative, oddly intriguing and seductively thought-provoking. Pietrobruno’s films have won awards and screened at hundreds of festivals, including the Berlin International Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival.

Steve Rosenberg
Writer/director Steve Rosenberg has completed a variety of genre short films over the past few years. Three of his past dramatic shorts, Corona Station, Watching Mrs. Pomerantz and Vannica screened at various prestigious festivals around the world and appeared on the Sundance Channel, Chorus, CBC and Bravo. Currently, he is working on a documentary, The Seduction of The Bottle, which is an ironic look at the rise of bottled water in North America. In addition to writing and directing, Steve works as a radio announcer for a public affairs talk show on community radio.

Robert Simpson

Rob balances personal work and camera department work in Vancouver's film industry. He has been an active member of Cineworks since 1986, assisting our technical staff and serving previously on the board of directors and on the former Equipment Committee. His technical expertise and grasp of members needs has been invaluable in the creation of Cineworks' equipment base.
Meg Thornton
- Executive Director
Meg Thornton is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and has worked in the media arts for over 25 years as an artist and an administrator. Meg joined Cineworks shortly after moving to Vancouver in the 1980’s. She is responsible for the overall administration of the organization and works with the Board of Directors and the staff to develop policies and programs which advance Cineworks' goals and objectives.
