Barbara Ann Schoemaker

Barbara Ann has been involved in film and photography for most of her adult life. Her family who were also active in these areas helped to inspire a love for cinema and the craft of filmmaking. In 1982 she graduated with Presidents Honors from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with a major in Documentary film. Upon graduation she went on to pursue a career in Film starting on the set of SUPERMAN III in Calgary and then in 1984 moved to Vancouver with the Disney Feature THE ADVENTURES OF NATTY GANN. She remained in Vancouver and became an active member of the Directors Guild of Canada serving on both the Provincial and National Executive boards in 1996 – 1997.

Throughout her career she has worked in a variety of capacities from editing to locations on such productions as “FINDERS KEEPERS” with Director Richard Lester and on the Steven Cannell series “21 JUMPSTREET”. In 2004 she worked as Field Producer on the Documentary Feature “Souvenir of Canada” based on the works of Canadian author Douglas Coupland, and as Line Producer on the Canadian First Feature “A Simple Curve” with Writer / Director Aubrey Nealon. In the fall of 2005 she joined Producer Howard Dancyger and Director Jerry Ciccoritti as Production Manager on the OMNI Films Mini Series production entitled “Dragon Boys” for the CBC which in the fall of 2007 won the DGC Best Team Achievement award.

Her short Film “Hide” produced in the fall of 2004 was invited to the Toronto International Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival and Whistler Film Festival.

She continues to be involved in development and production in the capacity of Line Producer and Production Manager in both in Canadian and international Co-productions and in 2007 worked as Line Producer on the Chinese / Canadian treaty co-production “Iron Road” starring Peter O’Toole and Sam Neill.
