David Vaisbord
David Vaisbord began thinking about his first documentary film at the tender age of 6 but it took 3 decades to complete "Mischa" (NFB:1996) his first full-length documentary – about his uncle. His work has been screened at festivals and broadcast in Canada and abroad. "Juicy Danger Meets Burning Man" was the psychedelic road trip, "Britannia Beach" an environmental investigation, "Drawing Out the Demons: A film about the Artist, Attila Richard Lukacs", the record of several very difficult years in the life of fellow ECIAD alumnus and the very "Bad Boy" of Canadian painting, Attila Lukacs. In 2005 David directed his first short drama, titled DARK PINES: An Investigation into the Death of Tom Thomson, which will premiere on BRAVO! on Oct 23, 2005. In a somewhat lighter vein, he’s presently developing a new feature documentary on "The Superdogs", and its creator Herb Williams. David resides in Vancouver with wife, Sheril Gelmon and young daughter Madeleine. On most summer weekends they can often be found cycling about the city searching for playgrounds and ice cream.
