Meet our new Interns!

Isabel McLean

Isabel holds a Bachelor of Motion Picture Arts from Capilano University, where she focused on screenwriting and narrative filmmaking. During her time at university, she helped develop a range of short films and related projects, expanding her experience in both independent and collaborative creative environments.

She also took a semester abroad in England, studying creative writing at the University of Hertfordshire where she gained new perspectives that continue to influence her storytelling.

While growing up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan she developed a deep appreciation for independent filmmaking and film as an art form capable of inspiring change. Her Métis heritage has shaped her belief in the importance of independent media as a space for voices and experiences that have often been overlooked in mainstream filmmaking. She is passionate about stories that challenge conventional structures, and is very excited to support and be a part of Vancouver’s independent filmmaking community.

Zaman Khan

Zaman Khan was originally born in Islamabad, Pakistan, but immigrated to Canada in 2015. He is based out of Vancouver now after obtaining citizenship in 2020. Zaman recently graduated from Capilano University with a Bachelor's in Motion Picture Arts.

His time at Capilano allowed him to obtain technical expertise in filmmaking but also theoretical and philosophical concepts related to storytelling and visual language. His interests lie in analog photography, writing, directing films, but also travelling the world to experience differing cultures and personalities, all in an effort to discover, learn and share stories through the medium of film.

He is excited to support local filmmakers and help construct a more concrete cultural community in Vancouver at Cineworks.

The CIFI position is a youth position made possible by a grant from the Canada Summer Jobs program through the Federal Government Youth and Employment Skills Strategy.
